Bigfoot in Mark Twain Forest 8

At Safe Distance

Dolly forced herself to be practical. Suppose the animal did follow. Sure she would lock the door but the house had windows. Plenty of them. Plus she doubted the door would be enough to stop the animal of it really wanted inside.

That damn whistling continued. She found it to be very confusing-frustrating because the whistling actually gave her a calm feeling when she heard it but at the same time she was aware it was effecting her so her anxiety was increased due to that. It is nearly impossible to describe, and there surely is not words in the English language to describe a feeling of calmness when at the same time feeling very anxious. The closest she could come was to say imagine if you had been given a strong relaxing pill and then after feeling it take full effect finding out there is a tornado about to hit your house.

Dolly kept her focus despite the calm feeling. Perhaps it was the reason she was able. in any case she kept walking down the gravel road. Now things were in slow motion. She heard the crunch of the gravel under her feet as she picked them up and put them down one in front of the other. And it was becoming that difficult.
