He bought more rabbits. First he bought just enough to birth more plus he figured if the creature came back it would only get the two sets of parents he had purchased. He rebuilt the pen though somewhat smaller. The rabbits he kept in cages up against the barn’s back wall as before. He installed a motion sensor light. Perhaps it more than any other defensive action taken, was able to keep the creature away. It certainly came on enough. Walking Tree was becoming a walking zombie because he wasn’t sleeping at night. The rabbits were not cooperating as they were not breeding. Walking Tree wondered if that was because they knew the creature was just outside the reach of the motion sensor and that it was scaring them so much they weren’t breeding. His next action was to buy a tarp which he put up to block seeing past it. That seemed to work. The rabbits began to breed and things were getting back to their norm. December arrived along with a new litters of rabbits. Everything seemed to be fixed for the time being. Then Christmas eve came and everything fell apart. First the cans that were set up to jingle if the wire around the pen was bothered, became active. Next Walking Tree woke up and rushed out in time to find his pen was compromised and the top two cages of rabbits were gone. The motion light was shining off at an angle and there were rabbits running around loose. Some were in the pen others were outside it. next page | |
